Broken Headlights
On the A-side, Kai demonstrates his subtle production skills as he creates a beautiful balance of chopped beats and floating chords. The title track 'Broken Headlights' combines stuttering, broken drum parts, deep sub-bass and warm emotional chords, woven with a light vocoder-like synth part and crunchy percussion. 'Gravity' is a dreamy, live-sounding arrangement of grainy beats, modulated chords and chiming keyboard notes. On the flip, 'Hi-Lee Teched Off' is a raw, looped piece of deep Detroit House, soaked in gradually building and shifting Rhodes chords; a great DJ tool in the right hands.
