You're the Only One

Order now!

Around 1969, Andy Aaron changed the name of his band from Andy Aaron & the Soul Brothers to the Mean Machine. While playing at a local club in Germantown, Curtis R Staten of C.R.S. Records stopped by, liked what he heard, and approached the band about making a record for his new C.R.S. record label which operated in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. By that time, the band included vocalist Bonnie Blanchard, a church singer who also sang R&B hits of the day by Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, and Stevie Wonder. The Mean Machine also included Grover Washington on sax who played the sax solos on both sides of their one and only 45. ''You're The Only One'' was written by WDAS dee jay Gus Lewis who managed to get the 45 some local airplay in Philly.
