Sylphe’s next release continues in the familiar format of the split EP. Holdie Gawn & Micawber are offering again a track each, to form the fourth instalment in the series of the London based project. Quotre by Holdie Gawn, offers a broken down, stripped back piece, with plenty of sub bass frequencies and a full of shuffle programming of drums, ranging from lo-fi drums to resonating filter sequences. Distorted synth riffs and a broken piano complete the sonic picture of this ten minute excursion in sound design. Moving into the B side, Micawber’s pulsating beats also follow the stripped back approach and stick to the fundamental; maintaining a steady yet driving pace that comprises of shifting melodies and a mesmerizing repetitiveness. Taking eleven minutes to unfold Weirden is a rhythmic based groover which fits early or late into the set. This pressing of 555, will include free Sylphe stickers with each record.
